Job summary

ABB is seeking a Hybrid VFD Support Specialist in New Berlin, WI, reporting to the Technical Support Team Lead. You will provide expert technical support to customers, end users, and internal teams on Low Voltage VFDs, 3-phase power, and system wiring.

The role blends engineering collaboration with hands-on problem solving and requires strong communication and documentation in Salesforce. You will guide customers through drive programming, configuration, and integration with control systems,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant Electrical/Technical experience OR associate's degree and 4 years of relevant Electrical, Technical experience OR High School Diploma/GED and 6 years of relevant Electrical, Technical experience required.
• Knowledge of how Variable Frequency Drives work, REQUIRED.
• Firm understanding of electricity principles and ability to apply these principles in troubleshooting drives.
• Ability to respond to inquiries from customers and communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written. Must be computer-literate.
• Candidates must already have a work authorization to work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support via phone & email for VFD-related issues including commissioning, troubleshooting, and warranty evaluations.
• Assist customers with drive programming, parameter configuration, communication, and integration with control systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, field service, sales, and product teams to resolve complex technical issues.
• Collaborate with the warranty team to initiate warranty replacements and labor authorizations for warranty repairs.
• Maintain detailed documentation of support cases and solutions using Salesforce Case Management and similar tools.
• Stay current with VFD technologies, software updates, and industry trends.
