• Maintain a friendly smile, strong eye contact, and approachable demeanor.
• Be a compassionate listener.
• Speak clearly, slowly, and calmly in person and on the telephone.
• Assess each client's needs and the pet's general condition on arrival.
• Determine whether an emergency arrival is a "stat" versus "standard" emergency.
• Respond to non-patient calls or visitors and connect them to the appropriate team member.
• Confirm all appointments in advance and provide information on preparing the pet for the appointment.
• Offer emotional support and resources to grieving clients.
• Serve as liaison between clients and service agencies during handling of pet remains.
