Job summary

R-2 Contractors is seeking an accomplished Utility-Scale Trenching Division Manager to lead and grow our trenching division across the United States from Gilbert, AZ. You will oversee all trenching operations, build high-performing teams, ensure safety and high-quality results, and drive long-term division growth.

Success relies on strong leadership, execution, and collaboration with executives to deliver projects safely and efficiently while expanding our nationwide trenching capabilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of heavy civil or underground utility construction experience.
• Proven experience leading multiple trenching crews and large-scale operations.
• Strong knowledge of high-production trenching and conduit installation.
• Experience with Tesmec and Vermeer trenchers and related equipment.
• Ability to travel ~25% and manage budgets and performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for trenching operations across projects.
• Build and mentor a high-performing team of field leaders.
• Oversee single-pass mechanical laying and conduit installation.
• Plan manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors for projects.
• Coordinate resources to maximize efficiency and safety.
• Ensure safety, quality, and compliance with project specs.
• Collaborate with project managers and executive leadership.
• Develop future leaders through coaching and succession planning.
• Maintain strong customer, GC, and stakeholder relationships.
