Job summary

R-2 Contractors is seeking an experienced Utility-Scale Underground Trenching Superintendent to lead field operations on nationwide projects, overseeing trenching, conduit installation, safety, and quality.

This field leadership role is responsible for safely planning, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of underground trenching operations while delivering exceptional quality, developing field leaders, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years underground utility/construction experience.
• Minimum 5 years leading underground trenching operations as a Superintendent or Senior Superintendent.
• Experience with Tesmec trenchers, Vermeer trenchers, rock saws, and cable lay box systems.
• Willingness to travel nationwide and work extended hours as schedules require.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment screenings.

Responsibilities

• Lead field operations for trenching and conduit installation.
• Plan manpower, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and schedules.
• Supervise foremen, operators, and crews to ensure safety and productivity.
• Oversee trenching, laying, bedding, and restoration per specs.
• Read and interpret project drawings and documents.
• Coordinate daily activities with PMs, customers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
• Maintain project documentation and quality records.
• Foster safety culture and develop future leaders.
