Job summary

R-2 Contractors is seeking a Utility-Scale Trenching Division Manager to lead our trenching operations across large-scale projects in the United States. This executive role focuses on building a high-performing division, delivering safe, productive, and high-quality underground conduit installation, backfilling, and related work.

You will mentor Superintendents and field leaders, coordinate resources and budgets, and partner with project managers and senior leadership to achieve strategic growth

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of heavy civil or underground utility construction experience.
• Proven experience leading multiple trenching crews and large projects.
• Experience operating Tesmec trenchers, Vermeer trenchers, rock saws, and cable lay box systems.
• Strong financial acumen with budgets and project performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for trenching operations across multiple projects.
• Mentor and develop a high-performing team of field staff.
• Plan resources, scheduling, and budgets to support project execution.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Operations Leadership, and estimating for delivery.
• Drive safety, quality, and productivity improvements across the division.
