Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a unit clerk to support bed management, patient throughput, and documentation on the patient care unit. The role requires solid clerical experience, strong communication, and proficiency with hospital information systems.

The successful candidate will handle patient charting, admissions/discharges coordination, and serve as a front-line resource for staff and visitors, while supporting hospital operations and new patient intake processes.

Qualifications

• Previous clerical and customer service experience.
• Clerical and customer service experience in a healthcare setting.
• Must take and pass required dysrhythmia course (telemetry) within 6 weeks of hire.
• CPR/BLS Certification may be required by the department.
• OAS Gold Training is preferred or required where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Bed management and patient throughput coordination on the unit.
• Operate and coordinate daily with hospital IT systems and record-keeping tools.
• Maintain patient charts and discharge records, prep for transfer.
• Provide unit receptionist support and staff communication.
• Assist Hospitalists with clinical rounds and scheduling coverage.
• Monitor and log unit supplies and equipment; assist with post-discharge follow-up.
