Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a unit operations coordinator to support patient flow, documentation, and unit operations on our inpatient unit. You will act as receptionist for visitors, coordinate bed management, and facilitate smooth unit operations with nurses and clinical staff.

Qualifications

3 years clerical and customer service in healthcare with at least one year as Level II OA at BMC.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
GED or HiSET is required.

Responsibilities

Bed management and patient flow coordination with admissions, discharges and transfers.
Accurately use unit-specific computer applications daily (OA Gold, CIS, Premise, etc.).
Lead unit projects and payroll/scheduling as needed.
Communicate handoffs and pending discharges to oncoming shifts.
Support Hospitalists during rounds and coordinate coverage for teams.
Greet new patients and assist families on arrival.
Maintain patient charts and manage records, transfers, and discharge paperwork.
Coordinate staffing and cover unplanned vacancies as needed.
Inventory, restock supplies and manage unit logs.
Activate emergency procedures and coordinate with emergency teams.
