Job summary

Komatsu Mining Corp. is seeking an Underground Field Service Technician to maintain and repair underground mining equipment in onsite environments. You will diagnose, repair, and optimize mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems to reduce downtime and enhance safety.

Ideal candidates have at least two years of underground service experience, completed an apprenticeship or post-secondary tech education, and are prepared for ongoing training within a safety‑driven, collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years' practical underground/heavy equipment service experience.
• Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or one year of post-secondary technical education.
• Underground mining experience preferred for safety and challenges.
• Troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to work underground with limited visibility and confined spaces.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and safety documents.
• Willingness to engage in ongoing training and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, inspect, and repair underground mining equipment to minimize downtime and boost efficiency.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify and fix mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
• Travel to sites to perform on-site repairs and component replacements.
• Perform post-repair testing to verify equipment meets safety and manufacturer standards.
• Interpret schematics and manuals, especially for low voltage control systems.
• Align and calibrate motor couplings, transfer cases, gearboxes to specs.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements for underground work.
• Coordinate with supervisors and engineers to report findings and suggest improvements.
