Job summary

Komatsu Mining Corp. is seeking an Underground Field Service Technician to maintain and optimize underground mining machinery in US sites. You will diagnose, repair, and service mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, working hands-on in challenging underground environments.

You will travel to sites to perform repairs, calibrations, and replacements, while adhering to rigorous safety standards and contributing to continuous improvement with engineers and other technicians.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ practical experience in underground or heavy equipment service roles.
• Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or one year of post-secondary technical education in a related field.
• Underground mining experience desirable to ensure familiarity with safety and challenges.
• Strong troubleshooting and maintenance skills for complex machinery.

Responsibilities

• Comprehensive maintenance: inspect, repair, and maintain underground mining equipment to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
• Advanced diagnostic analysis using specialized tools to identify mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
• Travel to underground sites to perform on-site repairs, component replacements, and adjustments to maintain production.
• Quality assurance: conduct post-repair testing to meet manufacturer and safety standards.
• Study and interpret schematics and manuals, especially low voltage control systems, for precise repairs.
• Mechanical alignment: adjust and calibrate couplings, transfer cases, gearboxes per specs.
• Adhere to safety and regulatory requirements in underground environments.
• Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and technicians to report findings and improve processes.
