Job summary

Komatsu Mining Corp. seeks an Underground Field Service Technician to maintain and optimize underground mining machinery, ensuring safety and reliability in demanding environments.

You will diagnose, repair, and service mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems at site, travel to underground sites as needed, and collaborate with a team to keep production flowing and equipment at peak performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years in underground or heavy equipment service roles.
• Completion of an accredited apprenticeship or one year of post-secondary technical education.
• Underground mining experience is highly desirable.
• Strong troubleshooting and repair skills for mechanical/hydraulic/electrical systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and safety documents.
• Willingness to engage in ongoing training and certifications.
• Effective communication and team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Comprehensive Equipment Maintenance: maintain and repair underground mining machinery to minimize downtime.
• Advanced Diagnostic Analysis: use diagnostic tools to identify issues in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Field Service Expertise: travel to underground sites for on-site repairs and component replacements.
• Quality Assurance Testing: perform post-repair testing to meet safety and manufacturer standards.
• Technical Documentation Utilization: interpret schematics and manuals for low voltage control systems.
• Mechanical Alignment: align couplings, gearboxes, and related assemblies to specs.
• Safety and Compliance: follow all safety protocols for underground environments.
• Collaboration and Communication: coordinate with supervisors and engineers to report findings.
