Job summary

Rush Truck Centers in Salt Lake City seeks a Service Advisor to sell and schedule needed service work for commercial trucks and equipment. You will gather customer expectations, perform vehicle inspections, run on‑board diagnostics, and reference service history to propose necessary repairs.

You will advise customers on vehicle care, write clear service input cards, and establish promised times. A CDL and insurability are required, with opportunities for advancement in a large national network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED completed.
• One year service experience or equivalent.
• Manufacturer training completed.
• Valid CDL license.
• Driving record insurable by the company carrier.

Responsibilities

• Gather customer complaint details and expectations.
• Perform vehicle walk around inspection, verify vehicle information.
• Connect to J-Pro and perform on the spot vehicle diagnostics. Print report.
• Advise customers on care of their vehicles per manufacturer specifications.
• Write up vehicle problems clearly on a service input card and obtain signatures.
• Establish promised time based on shop workflow and inform foreman.
• Establish payment method and obtain credit approval if needed.
• Create repair orders and secure documentation in the jacket.
• Monitor progress and inform customers of any changes in estimate or time, with proper authorization for additional repairs.
