Job summary

Performance Food Group is seeking an entry-level Driver Trainee for routes delivering food products to customers. Training is provided; you will learn to drive tractor-trailers and straight trucks, perform safety checks, and complete required DOT paperwork.

You will deliver orders on a predetermined schedule, unload, obtain signatures, and handle payments where required. The role offers Day 1 benefits and growth opportunities within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• 0 - 6 months External Driver School Direct Hire with a Class A CDL or 6+ months commercial driving experience
• High school diploma/GED or state approved equivalent
• Valid CDL A
• Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
• Must be 21 years of age
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
• Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
• Pass road test
• Valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
• Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift; product generally ranges from between 10-35 pounds and up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds, depending on the location

Responsibilities

• Attend and successfully complete PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program
• Ride-with and assist driver trainer in executing deliveries
• Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
• Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
• Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight and complete paperwork
• Drive to and deliver customer orders according to route delivery schedule
• Unload products from the trailer and verify deliveries with customers
• Ensure tractor, trailer and freight are secured at all times
• Complete daily hours of service and log per regulations
• Perform housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area
