Job summary

Performance Food Group in the United States is seeking an entry level Driver Trainee to learn tractor trailer operations and local route delivery. You will accompany a trainer, perform safety checks, and deliver orders to various customer sites.

The role emphasizes DOT compliance, safe driving, and accurate paperwork. Successful completion leads to Driver status with opportunities for growth within PFG’s extensive distribution network.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• 6+ months commercial driving experience.
• Valid CDL A.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements.
• Clean MVR for past 3 years.
• Pass post offer drug test.
• Pass road test.
• Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card.
• Able to hand-lift and move freight up to 90 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Attend and complete the Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program.
• Ride with and assist driver trainer during deliveries.
• Perform pre/post trip safety inspections per DOT rules.
• Follow DOT regulations and company safety policies.
• Deliver orders on scheduled routes and unload at customer sites.
• Verify deliveries and obtain customer signatures; handle payment as needed.
• Secure trailers and maintain paperworks for freight.
• Record hours of service and maintain logs.
• Keep equipment and docks clean and organized.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
