Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a seasoned Superintendent to oversee daily job-site operations, scheduling, production, and procurement for ground-up commercial projects. This role requires travel to project sites nationwide and on-site leadership of direct labor and subcontractors.

The candidate will collaborate with the Project Manager to develop look-ahead schedules, review specifications, and ensure safety and quality standards are met across multiple phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience in ground-up commercial projects, particularly in light industrial and/or cold storage sectors.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to/from project site.
• Reads blueprints accurately and understands building codes and design requirements.

Responsibilities

• Study specifications to plan procedures and staffing for each phase of construction.
• Coordinate with Project Manager to determine project schedule and look-ahead schedules.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to meet work schedules.
• Ensure stakeholders are informed about progress and issues; coordinate with subcontractors and clients.
• Manage labor costs by directing crew assignments and moving personnel between projects as needed.
• Prepare the Project Management Plan in collaboration with the Project Manager.
• Ensure safety, policy, and quality standards are consistently implemented.
