Job summary

Layton Construction in the United States is seeking a Superintendent responsible for daily on-site operations, including scheduling, production, procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment. They supervise direct labor and oversee contracted work to ensure timely project completion.

The role requires travel to project sites, coordination with Project Manager, pre-construction planning, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience in ground-up commercial projects, particularly light industrial/cold storage.
• Has a valid driver's license and is able to travel to and from the project site.
• Reads blueprints accurately.

Responsibilities

• Plan procedures for construction based on schedules and staffing.
• Develop and use look ahead schedules with Project Manager.
• Coordinate pre-construction meeting prior to mobilization.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to meet schedules.
• Communicate project progress to all parties and clients.
• Resolve labor issues with supervisors and craft representatives.
• Consult with engineers and inspectors to resolve construction problems.
• Inspect progress to ensure conformance with specs and schedules.
• Manage project using progress reports and costs; adjust schedules.
• Move personnel between projects to manage labor costs.
• Prepare the Project Management Plan with PM.
• Ensure safety, quality standards, housekeeping.
• Performs other related duties.
