Job summary

Layton Construction seeks a Project Engineer to assist Project Managers in ensuring installed work meets plans and specifications. The role requires relocating to the project site and working with the team to uphold quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities include reviewing drawings, coordinating with architects and subcontractors, preparing reports, and supporting bidding and scheduling activities to keep the project on track.

Qualifications

• Requires strong written and verbal communication; ability to express ideas clearly.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Familiarity with OSHA and safety requirements.
• Experience with scheduling programs is preferred.
• Strong problem solving and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to project needs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure work installed meets plans and specs.
• Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance.
• Identify value analysis and constructability improvements.
• Attend project meetings and distribute minutes.
• Publish weekly progress reports and track information.
• Update project schedules as needed.
• Assist in bidding and scope development for trades.
• Coordinate shop drawing milestones with the superintendent.
• Maintain logs of drawings, clarifications, and change requests.
• Advise on proper concrete pours and inspect reinforcements.
• Coordinate testing for concrete slump and compaction.
• Review field procedures and installation quality.
• Monitor work methods to improve production efficiency.
• Follow all safety policies and report unsafe activities.

Education

Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field
