Job summary

Layton Construction’s Project Engineer supports project managers to ensure work installed on the project meets plans and specifications. The role involves reviewing shop drawings, coordinating with the architect and subcontractors, and helping manage schedules on commercial projects.

Relocation to the project site is required as indicated; strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential to drive safety, quality, and efficiency on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field required.
• 1+ year of experience with a commercial general contractor or internship preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to read plans and specs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Willingness to adapt plans to meet goals.
• Team-oriented with collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers to ensure work meets plans and specifications.
• Review shop drawings and submittals for accuracy.
• Support cost-saving and value-analysis efforts on the project.
• Attend meetings and distribute minutes to participants.
• Publish weekly progress reports and maintain information logs.
• Update project schedules and milestones as needed.
• Assist in bidding and scope development for subs.
• Coordinate with superintendent on shop drawings and materials.
