Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to assist Project Managers in ensuring that work installed on the project meets plan and specification requirements. This role requires relocation to the project site; the above location may not reflect the project site.

You will review plans and shop drawings, analyze constructability, coordinate meetings, prepare progress reports, update schedules, and support bidding and scope development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field or equivalent experience.
• 1+ year of experience with a commercial general contractor or internship preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with clear writing and grammar.
• Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assists Project Managers to ensure work meets plans and specifications.
• Reviews shop drawings and submittals for accuracy.
• Communicates inconsistencies to the architect and team.
• Develops cost-saving methods to reduce project expenses.
• Attends meetings and distributes minutes; publishes weekly progress reports.
• Updates project schedules and assists in bidding and scope development.
• Coordinates with superintendent on shop drawings, samples, and material lists.
• Maintains logs of shop drawings and clarification requests.
• Ensures safety procedures and reports unsafe activities.
