Job summary

Layton Construction seeks a Project Engineer to assist Project Managers, ensuring installed work aligns with plans and specifications. The role involves reviewing shop drawings, coordinating with architects and subcontractors, and supporting cost-saving initiatives on commercial projects.

You will attend meetings, produce weekly progress reports, and help maintain project schedules while upholding safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field.
• 1+ year of experience with a commercial general contractor or comparable internship.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
• The ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assists Project Managers to ensure project work meets plan and specification requirements.
• Reviews shop drawings and submittals for consistency with plans.
• Suggests cost-saving methods to improve production efficiency.
• Attends project team meetings and distributes minutes.
• Publishes weekly progress reports and updates schedules as needed.
• Coordinates with the superintendent to develop and monitor the project schedule and milestones.
• Assists in bidding and scope development for trade contractors.
• Ensures compliance with safety policies and procedures.
