Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to support Project Managers in ensuring work aligns with project plans and specifications. This onsite role requires strong coordination with architects, subcontractors, and suppliers.

The ideal candidate will review drawings, analyze value and constructability, and help optimize production efficiency while maintaining safety and quality standards. Experience in commercial contracting and a willingness to relocate to project sites are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Good written and oral communication skills; clear writing and speaking.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel for reporting and documentation.
• Familiarity with scheduling programs and project coordination practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers to ensure work meets plans and specs.
• Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance and constructability.
• Prepare weekly progress reports and update project schedules.
• Coordinate meetings and distribute minutes; support trade contractor coordination.
• Support bidding and scope development for trade contractors.
• Promote safety policies and report unsafe activities.
