Layton Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to support Project Managers on commercial construction projects. The role requires relocation to the project site and entails reviewing plans, submittals, and shop drawings to ensure compliance with specifications.

You will help manage schedules, attend meetings, and assist in budgeting and bid preparation. Strong communication, blueprint reading, and OSHA safety understanding are essential for success.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1+ year of experience with a commercial general contractor, or comparable internship.
• Strong written and oral communication; clear and effective writing.
• Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Flexibility to modify plans to meet goals.
• Cooperation: works well with others to achieve goals.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Learning ability to quickly learn new job-related information.
• Understanding OSHA and company safety requirements.
• Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
• Scheduling programs knowledge is a plus.

Aufgaben

• Review project plans and specifications; study shop drawings and submittals.
• Assess plans for value analysis and constructability, notify architect of inconsistencies.
• Suggest labor and cost-saving methods for project efficiency.
• Attend and document meetings; distribute minutes to participants.
• Publish weekly project progress reports and manage information flow.
• Update project schedules as needed.
• Assist in bidding and developing trade contractor scopes.
• Coordinate with superintendent on schedules and shop drawings approvals.
• Maintain logs for shop drawings, RFIs, changes, and proposals.
• Advise on concrete pours; inspect structural reinforcements.
• Coordinate slump and compaction testing per specs.
• Review field procedures and final installs for compliance.
• Observe work methods and propose production improvements.
• Adhere to safety policies and report unsafe conditions.
