Layton Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to support Project Managers in ensuring work aligns with plans and specifications. The role involves reviewing shop drawings, coordinating with architects and subcontractors, and preparing weekly progress reports.

The ideal candidate has a civil engineering background, strong communication, blueprint reading, and OSHA safety knowledge. You will assist in scheduling, bidding, and ensuring quality across trades on active projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to convey ideas clearly.
• Proficient with Word and Excel for documentation and reporting.
• Familiar with reading blueprints and project plans.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and field practices.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt plans as needed.
• Ability to coordinate with teams and ensure safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers to ensure work meets plans and specs.
• Review shop drawings and submittals for accuracy.
• Analyze plans for value, constructability, and material selection.
• Attend and record minutes for project meetings and distribute them.
• Publish weekly progress reports and manage documentation flow.
• Update project schedules and assist in bidding for trades.
• Coordinate with superintendent to set milestones and review shop drawings.
• Maintain logs of shop drawings, clarifications, and change requests.
• Advise on concrete pours and inspect structural reinforcement.
• Coordinate slump testing and verify field procedures for compliance.
• Prepare for and review installation of structural elements and methods.
• Assist in improving production efficiency and safety adherence.
