Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s Degree or college classes welcomed.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Comfortable working with minimal supervision.
• Basic familiarity with computer applications.
• Phlebotomy certification from ASCP or another accredited agency preferred.
• Previous experience as a phlebotomist preferred.
• One or more years previous experience working in lab Patient Service Centers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent phlebotomy and phlebotomy-related services for all patients.
• Validate and/or update patient demographics and information in the BILH systems for patients with orders in the system; collect and enter data for others.
• Collect specimens by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all ages.
• Prepare specimens for transport to a BILH laboratory.
• Perform administrative duties to open/close the PSC daily.
• Assist in training, coaching, and mentoring PSC Phlebotomists as needed.
• Travel to additional PSCs and doctor offices as required.
• Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies and procedures.
• Report to Phlebotomy Supervisor and take directions.
• Participate in lab QA programs and continuing education.
• Deliver high patient satisfaction through reliable service.
