Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Patient Service Center Phlebotomist to perform specimen collections and deliver exceptional customer service in PSCs and medical office settings in Massachusetts.

You will collect specimens, verify demographics, and enter orders into the BILH computer system while adhering to SOPs. The role emphasizes teamwork, accuracy, and high-quality patient interactions in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Comfortable working with minimal supervision.
• Basic familiarity with computer applications.
• Phlebotomy certification from ASCP or another accredited agency preferred.
• Previous experience as a phlebotomist preferred.
• 1+ years experience in lab Patient Service Centers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent phlebotomy and phlebotomy-related services for all patients.
• Validate and/or update patient demographic and information in the BILH system for patients with existing orders; collect and enter data for others.
• Collect specimens by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all ages.
• Prepare specimens for transport to a BILH laboratory.
• Perform administrative duties to open/close the PSC daily.
• Assist Phlebotomy Supervisor with training, coaching, and mentoring PSC Phlebotomists.
• Travel to additional PSCs and doctor’s offices as needed.
• Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies and procedures.
• Report to the Phlebotomy Supervisor and participate in QA and continuing education.
