Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Patient Service Center Phlebotomist to perform specimen collections and provide outstanding patient service in a PSC setting within primary care practices or medical office buildings.

Responsibilities include venipuncture and capillary collections, data entry, specimen preparation, and daily PSC operations, with opportunities to train and mentor other PSC Phlebotomists and travel to additional sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Associate’s Degree welcomed or coursework towards degree.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Comfortable working with minimal supervision.
• Basic familiarity with computer applications preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification from ASCP or another accredited agency preferred.
• Previous phlebotomy experience preferred.
• 1+ year experience in lab Patient Service Centers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent phlebotomy and phlebotomy-related services for all patients.
• Validate or update patient demographics in the BILH system for patients with prior orders.
• Collect specimens by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all ages.
• Prepare specimens for transport to the BILH laboratory.
• Perform admin duties to operate PSC daily.
• Assist in training, coaching and mentoring PSC Phlebotomists as needed.
• Travel to additional PSC and doctor sites as needed.
• Follow departmental policies and procedures and comply with QA programs.
• Support supervisor and manager in duties and special projects.
