Job summary

Generator Supercenter in Homewood, AL seeks a Generator Mechanic/Service Technician to plan work with the Service Manager and travel to customers' homes for repair and maintenance of whole-home standby generators. You will troubleshoot via manuals/diagrams and update the service software after completing tasks.

Position typically Mon-Fri 8am-5pm, with weather-related schedule changes. Must follow safety practices and work outdoors as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Problem-solving, organization, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently, showing initiative.
• Reading and comprehension of technical manuals, electrical wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
• Must be able to drive company vehicles to each location within and surrounding area.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer residences using company vehicle.
• Communicate with customers about arrival, work performed, and issues resolved.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and perform maintenance on home generators.
• Follow manuals, diagrams, blueprints, and procedures.
• Test and operate automatic transfer switches.
• Document services performed in the electronic system.
• Adhere to safety practices and requirements.
