Job summary

The Generator Mechanic/Service Technician role at Generator Supercenter in Birmingham, AL involves traveling to customers’ homes to repair and maintain whole home standby generators using our company vehicle. You will read manuals, wiring diagrams, and blueprints, troubleshoot issues, and update service records while prioritizing safety and customer service.

Typical schedule is Mon–Fri 8 am–5 pm, with adjustments for weather; pay is commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with mechanical small engine repair.
• Experience with electrical wiring.
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to read technical manuals, electrical wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
• Be physically able to perform job duties outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Using company vehicle, travel to customer’s residence.
• Communicate directly with customers regarding arrival, work performed, issues resolved.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and perform maintenance on the customer’s home generator.
• Follow technical manuals, diagrams, blueprints, and procedures.
• Test, troubleshoot, and operate automatic transfer switches.
• Document services using electronic software system.
• Adhere to all safety practices and requirements.
• Other duties may be assigned.
