Job summary

Layton Construction in Austin, TX seeks a traveling Superintendent to manage daily site operations on high-profile projects nationwide. You will oversee scheduling, procurement, and crew management, ensuring safety and quality while coordinating with project managers, subcontractors, and clients.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of ground-up commercial experience, strong blueprint-reading and leadership skills, and a valid driver’s license willing to travel to multiple sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience in ground-up commercial projects, especially in light industrial or cold storage.
• Knowledge of construction processes and ability to read blueprints accurately.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
• Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily site operations, including scheduling, production, and procurement.
• Coordinate pre-construction activities and develop look-ahead schedules.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to meet work schedules.
• Ensure safety, quality, and housekeeping standards are maintained.
• Collaborate with PMs, subs, and clients to address issues and keep projects on track.
• Move personnel between projects to optimize labor costs and staffing.
