Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Superintendent to oversee daily job-site operations on large-scale ground-up commercial projects across the country. The role requires coordinating with Project Managers, managing procurement, staffing, and subcontractors to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in large-scale construction, excellent communication skills, and a proactive, organized approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field
• 5+ years of experience on large-scale ground-up commercial projects; light industrial experience preferred
• Knowledge of construction processes
• Has a valid driver's license and travel to project sites
• Reads blueprints accurately and understands building codes
• Understanding of subcontractors' scopes and tolerances
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; Basic Spanish preferred
• Good administrative skills: monitors progress and coordinates work
• Maintains integrity and professional conduct
• Shows initiative and is a self-starter
• Organized and plans effectively
• Proficient with office equipment and MS Office; CMiC knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

• Plan procedures for construction based on schedules and staffing requirements.
• Develop and use ahead schedules to assess progress.
• Coordinate pre-construction meetings with the Project Manager.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to meet work schedules.
• Keep all parties informed of construction progress and issues.
• Resolve coordination and staffing issues with supervisors and trades.
• Inspect ongoing work for conformance to specs and schedules.
• Manage project based on progress reports and costs; adjust schedules as needed.
• Move personnel between projects to minimize layoffs and manage labor costs.
• Assist in preparing the Project Management Plan with the PM.
• Ensure safety, equal opportunity, quality standards and housekeeping.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
