Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Project Manager for national, full-time, on-site leadership of construction projects. You will oversee planning, procurement, scheduling, and execution to maximize profitability while delivering high-quality results.

You will work closely with the Superintendent, manage budgets, permits, and compliance, and ensure safety and client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience in ground-up commercial projects, especially light industrial or cold storage.
• Understanding of estimating concepts to verify bids and process change orders.
• Knowledge of contractual language, construction laws and practices.
• Familiarity with building codes, plans, blueprints and specifications.
• Strong teamwork and delegation to achieve goals.
• Ability to present and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Deliver predictable outcomes for internal and external teams and customers.
• Lead the project team in planning, scheduling, procurement, and execution.
• Prepare estimates and manage project budgets.
• Develop PMP and conduct pre-award and pre-construction meetings.
• Negotiate subcontracts and obtain necessary permits and regulatory approvals.
• Create project schedules and milestones with the project superintendent.
• Manage contract documents and ensure complete, consistent execution of the contract.
• Oversee procurement of materials and equipment within the budget and schedule.
• Monitor site performance on quantity, cost, safety, quality, and schedule.
• Negotiate owner and subcontractor changes and manage cost/profit impact.
• Prepare monthly client pay requests and manage collections.
• Coordinate with job cost accounting for payments and lien releases.
• Close out projects, including as-builts and substantial completion.
• Interact with Estimating to provide cost data for databases.
• Manage client relationships and all client meetings.
