Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Project Manager to oversee planning, procurement, scheduling, and execution of multiple ground-up construction projects. The role requires full-time travel and on-site work at project locations across the country.

You will drive profitability, ensure quality and safety, and exceed owner expectations with predictable outcomes. You will lead PMP development, coordinate with the superintendent, and manage budgets, subcontracting, permits, and client relationships

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience on ground-up commercial projects, especially light industrial/cold storage.
• Understanding of estimating concepts to verify bids and process change orders.
• Knowledge of contractual language and construction laws/practices to protect the company.
• Familiarity with building codes and plans, blueprints, and specifications.
• Strong teamwork and ability to delegate to achieve goals.
• Effective verbal and written communication and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver predictable outcomes for internal/external teams and customers.
• Ensure safety, quality, honesty, unity, and integrity in execution.
• Collaborate with Superintendent to deliver projects and strengthen client relationships.
• Assist in preparing estimates and project budgets.
• Lead the project team in PMP development and conduct pre-award/pre-construction meetings.
• Participate in value engineering, subcontracting negotiations, and permit procurement.
• Prepare project schedules with milestones and ensure alignment with the project superintendent.
• Manage contract documents and ensure proper execution of the construction contract.
• Oversee procurement of materials/equipment within budget and schedule.
• Monitor site performance on cost, safety, quality, and schedule; develop risk management plans.
• Negotiate change orders and manage cost/profit impact.
• Prepare monthly client pay requests and manage collections.
• Coordinate with cost accounting for payments and lien releases; assist in monthly reviews.
• Manage closeouts, as-builts, substantial completion letter, and client recommendations.
• Interface with Estimating for cost data for the database.
• Maintain client relationships and lead meetings with clients.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
