Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Project Manager for national travel and on-site project leadership. You will oversee planning, management, procurement, scheduling, and execution for assigned construction projects, driving profitability and quality while exceeding owner expectations.

You will work closely with the Superintendent, prepare estimates and budgets, lead the PMP, manage permits and regulatory requirements, and monitor safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in ground-up commercial projects, particularly in the light industrial and/or cold storage sector.
• Understanding of estimating concepts and ability to verify bids, understand market rates, and process change orders.
• Understanding of contractual language and how to protect the company while providing quality service.
• Familiarity with building codes, plans, blueprints and specs.
• Ability to work well in a team and delegate tasks to achieve goals.
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Champion The Layton Way to deliver predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
• Ensure integrity, safety, and quality in all work.
• Collaborate with the Superintendent to ensure project delivery and client relationships.
• Assist in preparing estimates and budgets for projects.
• Lead the PMP and coordinate pre-award and pre-construction meetings.
• Participate in value engineering and subcontract negotiations; obtain permits as needed.
• Prepare project schedules and milestones with the project superintendent.
• Manage contract documents and procurement within budget and schedule.
• Monitor site performance for quantity, cost, safety, quality, and schedule; develop risk management plans.
• Negotiate change orders and manage cost/profit impact.
• Prepare monthly client pay requests and manage collections.
• Oversee job cost payments and liaise with the cost accountant.
• Manage close-out procedures, as-built drawings, and final deliverables.
• Provide cost information to estimating; manage client meetings.
