Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Behavioral Health RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring psychiatric nursing experience and an active OH or compact RN license. The role is in a hospital setting with a 3x12-hour night schedule and a 1:6 patient ratio. BLS certification is required, with CPI and ACEN/CCNE accreditation preferred.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• ACEN or CCNE accredited program is required for education.
• Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience.
• Experience with psych meds administration preferred.
• CPI certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care on a Behavioral Health unit.
• Night shift 3x12-hour shifts: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM.
• Every other weekend coverage as scheduled.
• Patient ratio 1:6 with floating to units of similar acuity.
• Utilize therapeutic approaches including crisis intervention and psychoeducation.
• Epic EMR experience required for charting and orders.
• Complete OH BCI and FBI fingerprinting promptly after offer.
• Locals are accepted; first-time travelers welcome.
• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as travelers at Ohio State University hospital locations.
• Submit RTO with application; limit to 7 days or less.

American Traveler is hiring a Behavioral Health RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring psychiatric nursing experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience required
• Charge RN experience preferred
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Experience with medication administration including antipsychotics, antidepressants, antianxiety, mood stabilizers, and sedatives preferred
• Experience caring for patients with psychiatric conditions including schizophrenia-spectrum, bipolar, depressive, anxiety, personality, and trauma-related disorders preferred
• Experience with crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and seclusion protocols preferred
• Experience with emergent chemical restraints and physical hold protocols preferred
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a charge RN; coworker references not accepted

• Locals are accepted at the same rate
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as travelers at any Ohio State University hospital location
• Requested RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
