American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced PACU RN with critical care competencies for a hospital PreOp-PACU unit requiring call and weekend rotation coverage.

This travel assignment features 12-hour shifts and a mix of PreOp, PACU, Endo prep, and Phase II duties in Rapid City, SD. Ideal candidates hold an active SD or compact RN license with BLS/ACLS/PALS and a minimum of 1.5 years of RN experience.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (SD or compact) required.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience required.
• Completion of an approved nursing education program.
• Comfortable with Preop, Recovery, and Discharge procedures.
• Willing to work PreOp, PACU, Endo prep/discharge, and Phase II.

Responsibilities

• Care in a PreOp-PACU unit with 24 Pre-Op/Phase 2 beds and 19 PACU beds.
• Care for infant to geriatric patients, including Endo prep and discharge.
• Treat ambulatory, elective, acute care and trauma cases.
• Patient ratios vary by department and acuity.
• Work 12-hour shifts with days/variable or nights schedules.
• Night shift requires CCU-level experience with hemodynamic drips and ventilated patients.
• Float to PreOp, PACU, Endo prep/discharge, Phase 2 as needed.
• Weekend call rotation every 4 weeks; on-call 3–5 weeks with 15-min response.
• Use Epic EMR, Omnicell, Baxter IV pumps.
• Provide perioperative nursing care across units.

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN with critical care competencies for a hospital PreOp-PACU unit requiring call and weekend rotation coverage.

Requirements

• Active RN license (SD or compact) required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
• Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience required
• Completion of an approved nursing education program
• Comfortable with Preop, Recovery, and Discharge of patients
• Skills in IV insertion, ventilator training, epidural/PCA setup, blood product transfusion initiation, and moderate sedation administration/monitoring

Responsibilities

• Work in a PreOp-PACU unit with 24 Pre-Op/Phase 2 beds and 19 PACU beds
• Care for an infant-geriatric patient population, including Endo patients for prep and discharge (not Intra-Op)
• Treat ambulatory/elective and acute care/trauma cases
• Patient ratios: Pre-Op 1:2-3, PACU 1:1 or 1:2, Phase 2 1:2-4, dependent on acuity
• 12-hour variable shifts, with options for Days/Variable (3x12s, 0500-2300) or Nights (4x10s, 2030-0700, scheduled consecutively)
• Night shift requires Critical Care experience with ICU cases including hemodynamic drips and ventilated patients
• Floating required to PreOp, PACU, Endo prep/discharge, and Phase 2 as needed within scope of practice
• Weekend call rotation required every 4 weeks (varied hours Fri-Sun)
• On-call shift (2300-0700) required approximately every 3-5 weeks on weekdays, with 15-minute response time (night shift RNs exempt)
• Uses Epic EMR, Omnicell, and Baxter IV pumps
• Provide perioperative nursing care across PreOp, PACU, Phase 2, and Endo prep/discharge areas
• May be expected to board patients when inpatient beds are unavailable
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurses, resource nurses, RT, hospitalists, and anesthesia/CRNA teams
• One-week orientation includes one day in each department (PreOp, PACU, Phase II, Endo)
• Holiday coverage required for 2 holidays per year, rotated among call teams
• Time off requests are not considered during the first 3 weeks of August annually due to the Sturgis Bike Rally
• May be expected to precept students
• Navy blue scrub color required
