Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Pediatric PACU position in California. Must hold a CA RN license, with Epic charting experience and at least 2 years of PreOp nursing experience. BLS, ACLS and PALS required.

Travel-ready and local candidates considered within 50 miles at local rate. Responsibilities include PreOp and Phase II recovery care, perioperative medication management, and pediatric patient care across ENT, ophthalmology, orthopedic, and podiatry procedures.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of recent PreOp nursing experience required.
• Epic charting system experience required.
• Airway assessment and placement of oral/nasal airways.

Responsibilities

• Work in the PreOp unit of a hospital setting.
• Provide ambulatory/outpatient and Phase II recovery pre- and post-operative care.
• Cares for surgical cases including ENT, ophthalmology, orthopedic, and podiatry procedures.
• Support anesthesia types including conscious sedation, general, local, MAC, nerve blocks, and spinal.
• Perform pre-op assessments, education, medication administration, and discharge instructions.
• Manage pediatric patients including tonsillectomy cases.
• Day shift schedule (5x8 hours) with start times 5:30am to 11:30am.
• No on-call or weekend shifts.
• Medication reconciliation and follow-up calls.
• Circulation checks; assist with ortho OR cases.
• Monitor pain using PCA pumps and RASS scales.
• Follow PPE protocols and isolation precautions.
• Holiday coverage and travel logistics per contract.

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Pediatric PACU position requiring a CA RN license, Epic experience, and at least 2 years of PreOp nursing experience.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent PreOp nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skilled in airway assessment and placement of oral/nasal airways
• Experience with pre/post-op medication management including antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants, antihypertensives, and reversal agents
• Experience obtaining 12 lead EKG/ECG and operative consent
• Experience with straight urinary catheterization for male and female patients
• Knowledge of malignant hyperthermia protocol and insulin/hyperglycemia protocols preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Work in the PreOp unit of a hospital setting

• Supports various anesthesia types including conscious sedation, general, local, MAC, nerve blocks, and spinal
• Performs pre-op assessments, education, medication administration, and discharge instructions
• Manages pediatric patients including tonsillectomy cases
• Day shift schedule (5x8 hours) with variable start times ranging from 5:30am to 11:30am
• No on-call responsibilities
• No weekend shifts required
• Responsible for pre-op and post-op patient care including medication reconciliation and follow-up phone calls
• Performs circulation checks and assists with ortho open reduction and internal fixation cases
• Monitors and manages pain using PCA pumps and RASS scale assessments
• Follows isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Maximum of 7 RTO days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
• Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
• Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius at the local rate
• Previous employees must have a one-year separation period before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
