Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. seeks an experienced OR RN for a General Surgery assignment in Illinois. Requires 2+ years in general, GYN, and urology surgery and EPIC EMR proficiency. IL RN license and BLS certification are mandatory.

Position includes 10-hour day shifts, on-site hours in a high-volume OR with a focus on laparoscopy cases and DaVinci robotics. Call and weekend requirements apply; housing and travel reimbursements are provided by the agency.

Qualifications

• IL RN license required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in general, GYN, and urology surgery nursing required
• ENT surgical experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience in similarly sized facilities and ORs within the last 2 years preferred

Responsibilities

• Acute care hospital setting in the General Surgery Operating Room, with 14 suites for general surgery out of 28 total
• Averages 20-40 general surgery cases per day
• Common procedures include lap chole, lap colon, lap appy, cysto, DaVinci robotic cases, hysterectomy, vascular, ENT, and urology cases
• Works alongside surgical technologists and a charge nurse who also takes case assignments
• Uses EPIC OP Time EMR
• 10-hour day shifts (7a-5:30p or 12:30p-11p) totaling 36-40 hours per week based on contract, with block scheduling
• Call required approximately once per week with assigned call shift hours and a 30-minute response time
• Weekend requirement of every other or every third weekend, worked as a full weekend with an assigned call shift
• Floating possible to other surgery teams or SPD if qualified
• Provide direct nursing support in a high-volume general surgery OR environment
• Unit-specific orientation up to one week, plus hospital-wide orientation
• Hospital-provided scrubs
• Sleep policy in place for call shifts exceeding 4 hours worked after 11pm, granting 8 hours off post-shift
• COVID vaccination not required
• Local candidates accepted, with reduced bill rate applied for those within 50 miles of the facility
• No radius restriction for job eligibility
