Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week acute care assignment in Illinois.

Requirements include an active IL RN license, BLS/ACLS, and at least 2 years of OR experience. Orthopedic experience and scrubbing are a plus, with a negative drug screen required. Epic OpTime is used for case management.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license required.
• BLS and ACLS certification required; PALS preferred but not required.
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience required.
• Orthopedic surgery experience preferred.
• Scrubbing skills preferred, though candidates without this skill will be considered.
• Negative drug screen required for all panels.

Responsibilities

• Acute care Surgical Services/OR unit with 5 operating suites.
• Avg 20-25 cases per day across general, GYN, urology, orthopedic & podiatry.
• Procedures include colon resections, hysterectomy, knee/hip/shoulder replacements and more.
• Uses Epic OpTime EMR.
• Mon-Fri, 8:30am-5pm with a varied day off every other week.
• Weeknight, weekend and holiday call rotation every 6 weeks with 45-min response.
• Floating to the Ottawa location as needed.
• Unit orientation on-site the morning of the first shift.
• 12 hours of non-billable orientation required.
• Local rates available within 50 miles of facility.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring an active IL license and at least 2 years of OR experience.

• Minimum 2 years of OR experience required
• Orthopedic surgery experience preferred
• Scrubbing skills preferred, though candidates without this skill will be considered
• Negative drug screen required for all panels

Responsibilities

• Acute care setting in a Surgical Services/OR unit with 5 operating suites
• Averages 20-25 cases per day across general, GYN, urology, orthopedic, and podiatry surgery specialties
• Common procedures include colon resections, basic lap general surgery, hysterectomy, lap GYN cases, urology and nephrectomy/prostatectomy, PCNL, total knee/hip/shoulder replacement, knee and shoulder scopes, and basic podiatry cases
• Uses Epic OpTime EMR
• Monday-Friday schedule, 8:30am-5pm, with a varied day off every other week
• Weeknight, weekend, and holiday call rotation required once every 6 weeks with a 45-minute call response time
• Floating to the Ottawa location required at times
• Charge nurse present on each shift and may take an assignment depending on staffing; department supervisor and OR techs also on staff
• Unit-specific orientation provided on-site the morning of the first shift
• 12 hours of non-billable orientation required
• Required to wear hospital-provided scrubs
• Call-off policy allows the equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks without penalty
• Local rates available for candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility, with no radius restriction on eligibility
• Requested time off must be submitted for consideration
