Responsibilities

• Circulate for general, GYN, ortho, and urology procedures, with scrub skills preferred
• Will be the only RN on callback and must be comfortable functioning independently
• Operate in a 3-OR department with roughly 10 cases per day
• Support includes a Charge RN, on-call leader, scheduler, 5-6 RNs and 4-5 surgical techs daily
• Provide 24/7 anesthesia, RT, and hospitalist coverage

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a 33-bed surgery department requiring 3+ years of acute OR experience and independent call coverage.

Requirements

• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience with general, GYN, ortho, and urology surgical patient types required

• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Responsibilities

• Surgery department with 3 operating rooms, averaging around 10 cases per day
• Patient population is mostly adults with some pediatric ENT cases
• Procedures include general, GYN, orthopedic (total joints, ORIFs, sports medicine upper extremity), and urology surgeries
• Robotic surgery exposure with Medtronic Hugo system (experience not required)
• Will circulate for general, GYN, ortho, and urology procedures, with scrub skills preferred
• Works as the only RN on callback and must be comfortable functioning independently
• Support includes a Charge RN, on-call leader, scheduler, 5-6 RNs and 4-5 surgical techs daily, and 24/7 anesthesia, RT, and hospitalist coverage
• 10-hour day shifts from 0630-1700 with a rotating day off each week
• Schedule is built in 6-week increments without guaranteed block scheduling
• On-call required: one weeknight per week (1830-0630) and every 5th weekend (Saturday 0630-Monday 0630) with a 30-minute callback time
• Weekend commitment is call-only
• No floating required
• Circulate OR cases with potential to scrub depending on skill set
• Facility has no trauma designation, is not a teaching hospital, and is not a stroke-accredited center
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 shifts of unit orientation, with buddy call included
• Holiday coverage expected for 50% of holidays on a call-only basis
• RTO requests go through manager approval
• Scrubs are provided with extended sizing available if needed
• Free parking available on-site
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered
• Previous permanent employees must have been separated from the health system for at least 1 year before applying
