American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring 2+ years of OR experience in ortho, GYN, and general surgery. Travel OR experience and ND/Compact license are required. Benefits include housing allowance and travel reimbursement.

The role involves 6-OR + 1 GI suite, varied adult/pediatric/OB cases, and use of Meditech EMR with occasional floating to other departments. Shifts are 9 hours, with weekends and call obligations.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (ND state or Compact) required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required at time of consideration.
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience (ortho, GYN, general)
• Prior OR travel experience required
• Two professional references: supervisor within 12 months and peer/supervisor within 3 years
• Copy of driver’s license required
• Must be clean-shaven or pass fit test for respirator

Responsibilities

• Acute care setting in a 6-OR plus 1 GI suite department.
• Patient population: adult, pediatric, geriatric, obstetric.
• Procedures include ortho total joints, ORIF, arthroscopy; OB/GYN cesarean, LAVH, D&C; lap apps, chole, ex lap, endoscopy.
• Uses C-arm and Mako equipment.
• Average 6–10 cases per day, up to 20.
• RNs not required to scrub; OR techs present; no charge nurse assignment.
• Uses Meditech EMR.
• 9-hour day shifts Mon-Thu with team/self-scheduling.
• Requires 1 weekend per month and 1–2 call shifts per week.
• 1:1 call monitoring and 15 min on-call response.
• Occasional floating to other departments for non-patient-load support.
• Scrubs provided; unit orientation provided.

Requirements

• Active RN license (ND state or Compact) required, pending licenses not accepted
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience required, including ortho, GYN, and general surgery
• Prior travel experience in an OR unit required
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Must be clean-shaven or able to pass a fit test, as facial hair may disqualify candidates from required respirator fit testing

Responsibilities

• Acute care Critical Access Hospital setting in a 6-OR suite plus 1 GI suite department
• Patient population includes adult, pediatric, geriatric, and obstetric cases
• Common procedures include ortho total joints, ORIF, and arthroscopy; OB/GYN cesarean section, LAVH, and D&C; and general lap appy, lap chole, ex lap, and endoscopy
• Uses C-arm and Mako equipment
• Average case load of 6-10 per day, occasionally up to 20
• RNs are not required to scrub
• OR techs are present on the unit but no charge nurse takes a patient assignment
• Uses Meditech EMR
• 9-hour day shifts Monday-Thursday (0700-1630 or 0600-1530) with team/self-scheduling
• Requires 1 weekend per month (Friday 0700 to Monday 0700) and 1-2 call shifts per week
• On-call response time of 15 minutes
• Occasional floating to other departments for non-patient-load support such as call lights and 1:1 monitoring
• No clinical involvement required for this role
• Scrubs provided according to facility dress code
• One week of unit-specific orientation provided
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility and may not hold full-time, part-time, or PRN status with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity
• Candidates employed directly (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved
