Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in the Knoxville area. Requires 2 years of acuity experience and Cerner EMR proficiency. Night shifts, 3x12s, with every other weekend; no on-call responsibilities.

First-time travelers welcome and local candidates considered at same rate. Active TN or compact RN license is required in hand, along with BLS. NIHSS preferred; travel housing and licensure reimbursements are offered.

Qualifications

• Active unencumbered TN or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration.
• BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a comparable acuity hospital setting.
• Cerner EMR charting experience required.
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred.
• IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration.
• Respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care.
• Experience managing cardiac drips, PCA, and interpreting dysrhythmias.
• Experience with wound care, isolation precautions, and IV insulin protocols.
• Two references required, which may be pending at time of consideration.

Responsibilities

• Complex Medical Unit focused on acute care.
• Patient ratios typically 1:6, varying based on need.
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00).
• Every other weekend required.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Facility will try to accommodate block scheduling based on patient and unit needs.
• Care for patients with complex medical needs including cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and renal conditions.
• Must pass a basic dysrhythmia interpretation test and medication test during orientation.
• Entire weeks during holidays are not approved for RTO, though individual dates may be negotiable depending on staffing needs.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate.
• Previous employees are eligible to return.
• Travel pairs are allowed.
