American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a night shift in Knoxville, TN. Requires 2+ years of acuity experience and Cerner EMR proficiency. TN or compact RN license is mandatory and BLS is required; NIHSS is preferred.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in TN or compact required at submission.
• Minimum 2 years RN experience in a comparable acuity setting.
• BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred.
• Cerner EMR charting experience required.
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred.
• Proficient in IV therapy, line care, transfusions, and cardiac monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients on a Complex Medical Unit focused on acute care.
• Maintain 1:6 patient ratios, depending on unit needs.
• Night shift: 19:00–07:00, 3x12-hour shifts.
• Occasional weekend coverage; block scheduling possible.
• Care for Medical-Surgical/Telemetry patients with ortho, cardio, and renal cases.
• Pass basic dysrhythmia and medication tests during orientation.
• Limited time off during holidays; dates negotiable by staffing needs.
• First-time travelers welcome; local candidates paid at the same rate.
• Travelers may return; travel pairs allowed.

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night-shift role requiring 2 years of comparable acuity experience and Cerner EMR proficiency.

Requirements

• Active, unencumbered TN or compact RN license required at time of submittal (pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a comparable acuity hospital setting
• BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
• Required Cerner EMR charting experience
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, blood product administration, and PICC line management
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management
• Experience managing neurological and psychiatric conditions such as CVA, seizure disorders, and substance withdrawal
• Experience with cardiac drip management, dysrhythmia interpretation, and cardiac monitoring
• Wound care and isolation precaution/PPE experience required
• Two professional references required for consideration (may be pending at time of submission)

Responsibilities

• Patient ratios typically run 1:6, varying by unit needs
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Facility will try to accommodate block scheduling based on patient and unit needs
• Care for patients on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit with orthopedic, cardiovascular, and renal case exposure
• Must pass a basic dysrhythmia interpretation test and medication test during orientation
• Entire weeks during holidays are not approved for time off, though individual dates may be negotiable depending on staffing needs
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Previous travelers with the facility are eligible to return
• Travel pairs are allowed
