Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. seeks an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele travel assignment in Towson, MD. Requires MD or Compact license and telemetry expertise. Prior travel nursing and EPIC EMR experience are essential.

Day shift is 7:00–19:30, with every other weekend and holiday coverage. Floating within specialty areas is required; candidates under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless stated otherwise.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (MD state or Compact) required at time of consideration.
• 1-2+ years of RN experience in Med/Surg or Telemetry.
• Current BLS and ACLS (AHA) certifications.
• CPI certification is preferred.
• Previous travel nursing experience required.
• Strong skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral/PICC line management.
• Experience with cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for Med/Surg Tele units including dysrhythmia monitoring.
• Monitor and manage cardiac telemetry patients on-unit and via remote monitoring.
• Respond to rapid responses and code activations as needed.
• Care for patients with TAVR, pacemakers, and post-MI conditions.
• Travelers may float within scope; no restrictions.
• Maintain EPIC EMR documentation and orders.
• Engage in patient education and discharge planning.

Job description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring prior travel experience and MD/Compact licensure with telemetry expertise.

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD state or Compact) required at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA only), and CPI
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral/PICC line management
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and oxygen administration
• Experience with pacemakers and pre/post cardiac catheterization and angiogram care
• Experience with renal failure management and continuous bladder irrigation
• Experience with wound care and IV insulin protocols

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
• Cardiac telemetry patient population including on-unit and remote monitoring
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (07:00-19:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating required within specialty and lower acuity areas as needed
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provide direct patient care for cardiac telemetry and med/surg patients including dysrhythmia monitoring and management
• Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
• Manage patients with cardiovascular conditions including TAVR, pacemakers, and post-MI care
• Travelers are expected to float within scope with no restrictions
• Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
• Former staff must have been separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Returning travelers must have at least a 6-month break from the system before reapplying
• Maximum RTO request is 7 days; requests of more than 4 consecutive days require an additional week added to the contract
