Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift in Connecticut. Requires CT or compact license, plus prior travel nursing experience and current BLS/ACLS/NIHSS certifications. EPIC EMR familiarity is essential.

The unit features 26 beds, nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3–4 during days and 1:7–8 at night, with a 7:00 PM–7:30 AM schedule and every-other-weekend/holiday rotations. Local candidates within 50 miles are ineligible. First-time travelers are not considered.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in CT or compact
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required

Responsibilities

• Provide general medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care
• Acute Med/Surg Tele unit with 26 beds
• Manage patient ratios of 1:3–4 days and 1:7–8 nights
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (7p–7:30a)
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation
• No blocked schedules
• On-site IT and pharmacy support 24/7
• 2-shift floor-specific orientation provided
• Supportive team including charge nurse and nurse aide
• In-house hospitalist and respiratory therapy available 24/7

Responsibilities

• Acute care Med Surg/Tele unit with 26 beds
• General medical patient population
• Patient ratios of 1:3-4 days and 1:7-8 nights
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7p-7:30a)
• Every other weekend required, including full weekend coverage (Saturday and Sunday)
• Every other holiday rotation required
• No blocked schedules available
• Charge nurse and nurse aide support available (1:8 ratio)
• IV team available 7am-8:30pm, with nurse resource support 24/7
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7, with nurses performing respiratory treatments
• In-house hospitalist coverage 24/7
• Pharmacy available 24/7
• Provide general medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care
• 2-shift floor-specific orientation provided
• Scrub color is Caribbean blue, with black or Caribbean blue pants and black or white undershirts permitted
• First-time travelers will not be considered
• Minimal RTO requested, with no RTO within the first two weeks of the assignment
• Candidates must not be employed in another position while on this assignment
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible for this position
