Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. seeks an experienced Med/Surg RN with active OR RN licensure and Trauma Level II experience for a 13-week day shift assignment in Bend, Oregon.

You will join a multi-campus hospital system and provide care for patients with COPD, postoperative recovery, sepsis, trauma, and other complex conditions. The role requires strong telemetry skills and the ability to adapt to float assignments across campuses.

Qualifications

• Active RN license required; OR RN license also required.
• 2+ years Med/Surg nursing experience.
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred; first-time travelers may be considered with 3–5 years experience.
• BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred.
• Trauma Level II experience required; Level I preferred.
• Teaching hospital experience preferred; charge nurse experience preferred.
• Epic EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Medical-Surgical unit within a multi-campus hospital system.
• 13-week assignment on day shift (4x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM).
• Care for COPD, postoperative patients, sepsis, colorectal and bariatric surgery cases, pneumonia, trauma, renal failure, oncology, and withdrawal.
• Weekend shifts required; float across Med/Surg units and campuses.
• No on-call shifts scheduled; standby may be required.
• May float as 1:1 observer or be assigned to ED for boarded patients.
• Epic EMR experience preferred.

Job description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN with required OR RN licensure and Trauma Level II experience for a 13-week day shift assignment.

Requirements

• Active RN license required; OR RN license also required
• Pending license applications accepted due to quick turnaround
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required, though candidates with 3-5 years of experience will be considered as first-time travelers
• BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Skills needed include IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula), wound care and wound vac management, cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and management of dysrhythmias
• Additional experience preferred in port access, colostomy/ileostomy care, continuous bladder irrigation, hemodialysis management, chemotherapy monitoring, and post-angiogram/post-MI care

Responsibilities

• Medical-Surgical unit within a multi-campus hospital system
• 13-week assignment on day shift (4x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
• Cares for patients with COPD, total joint replacement, sepsis, colorectal and bariatric surgery, pneumonia, trauma, altered mental status, renal failure, bowel obstruction, oncology, and substance withdrawal
• Weekend shifts required to total one per week of the contract, which may be every other weekend or spread throughout the schedule
• No scheduled on-call shifts, though standby status may be required
• Float requirement includes any Med/Surg unit across four campus locations (Bend Level 2 trauma center, Madras critical access hospital, Prineville critical access hospital, and Redmond Level 4 trauma center)
• May float as a 1:1 observer in any clinical department or be assigned to the ED to care for boarding Med/Surg patients
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• No time off approved between 12/20 and 12/30
• RTO requests limited to 7 days
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not accepted and proof of address is required
• First-time travelers will only be considered with 3-5 years of relevant experience
• Annual orientation includes completion of required training modules, which vary by specialty
