Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a 42-bed orthopaedic unit in Missouri. Licensure in MO or Compact required, with BLS; ACLS preferred. Night shifts, rotating holidays, and 3x12s are part of the schedule.

Experience in Trauma Level II units (Level I and teaching hospitals preferred) and LTAC exposure are favored. Travel contracts up to 9 months with 50% holiday coverage and 24/7 operations. Local candidates should be 51 miles or more away.

Qualifications

• Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration.
• BLS required, ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required; Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred
• LTAC experience preferred
• Must be able to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs

Responsibilities

• 42-bed Medical Surgical unit at an orthopaedic institute
• Patient population includes post-operative orthopaedic, trauma, ortho spine, medicine, and plastics cases
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Day ratio 1:5-6, Night ratio 1:6
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required, including to MS/Tele units as a Patient Observer/Sitter when needed
• 50% holiday coverage required
• 36 or 48 hour contracts available
• Cerner charting preferred
• Provide post-surgical and medical nursing care to orthopaedic, trauma, and plastics patients
• Works in a healthcare facility operating 24/7/365, requiring flexibility for rotating shifts, holidays, and inclement weather
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible, those residing 51-74 miles away may be offered local rate
• Local candidates are not eligible for extensions beyond the initial contract
• Maximum RTO of 10 days, with none allowed in the first week due to orientation
• Travelers may work up to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts (up to 9 months), followed by a mandatory 6-month break before returning in an agency capacity
• Re-orientation not required for returning travelers within 18 months
