Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. seeks an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool in a 101-bed Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center. You will float across MS1, MS2 Ortho/Neuro, and Cardiac units and provide direct patient care to diverse patient populations.

The role requires 2+ years MedSurg experience, WI or compact license, and EPIC EMR proficiency. Expect 12-hour shifts, weekend rotation, and traveler-friendly scheduling in a dynamic hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Active WI or compact RN license required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Minimum 2 years MedSurg experience.
• EPIC EMR experience required.
• Chest tube care and stable trach management.
• IV insertion, port/central line care, Foley insertion and care.
• Feeding tube management and cardiac rhythm interpretation.
• CPAP/BiPAP familiarity; drip titration experience preferred (with manager approval if not).
• Cardiac post-procedure experience preferred (with manager approval if not).
• Candidate DOB and last 4 of SSN required for consideration.
• Minimum one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN.

Responsibilities

• Float Pool position in a 101-bed Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center.
• Units include MS1 General Medical Surgical, MS2 Ortho/Neuro, and MS2 Cardiac, with floating to any unit housing MedSurg patients.
• Provide direct patient care across MedSurg, Ortho/Neuro, and Cardiac units.
• Patient ratios are 1:4-6 on days and 1:6 on nights.
• 12-hour day shifts (0700-1900) with weekend rotation every other weekend.
• Shifts may include 1845-0715 or 0645-1915.
• EMR: EPIC; IV Pumps: Alaris; Med Dispensing: Pyxis.
• Remote tele monitoring support available; travelers may monitor patients if needed.
• Orientation includes one full shift for login/paperwork and EPIC training plus one 12-hour shift of unit orientation.
• Holiday coverage up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Patient population includes oncology (non-chemo administration), limited pediatric patients (ages 1+, non-peds unit), general surgical cases (gallbladder, appendectomy, colectomy, ostomy, TURP), general medical cases (cellulitis, GI bleeds, CHF, COPD), ortho (total hips/knees/shoulders), neuro (spine surgery, stroke, TIA, altered mental status), and cardiac (post-procedure, heart failure, arrhythmias)
• Patient ratios are 1:4-6 on days and 1:6 on nights
• 12-hour day shifts (0700-1900) with weekend rotation every other weekend
• Scheduling may include shifts from 1845-0715 or 0645-1915
• No on-call requirements
• EMR: EPIC, IV Pumps: Alaris, Med Dispensing: Pyxis
• Provide direct patient care across MedSurg, Ortho/Neuro, and Cardiac units with potential float assignments throughout the hospital
• Support staff includes HUC (days only), CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, RT, hospitalist coverage 24/7, and PT/OT/ST on weekdays
• Remote tele monitoring support available, though travelers may occasionally monitor patients if tele techs are short-staffed
• Orientation includes one full shift for login/paperwork and EPIC training plus one 12-hour shift of unit orientation
• Scrubs must be a solid, professional color with no graphics or logos
• Free parking available on-site

• Holiday coverage required for up to 50% of holidays during the contract
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
