Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a CVICU RN for a mixed-acuity cardiovascular ICU in Indiana. The role requires 18 months of recent cardiac ICU experience and an IN license or compact license, with ACLS/BLS and NIHSS preferred.

You will support CV surgery and thoracic cases (CABG, TAVR, SAVR, MVR, VATS) and may float to related units. Night shifts are 3x12s, every other weekend, with private rooms and telemetry; Cerner is used for charting.

Qualifications

• Active IN or compact RN license
• ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac ICU experience
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with post cardiac surgery care (CABG, TAVR/TAVR), arterial/central line care
• Titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Preferred experience with LVAD/IABP and cardiac cath interventions
• Ventilator management and care for ventilated patients
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• RN degree from ACEN or CCNE-accredited program

Responsibilities

• CVICU setting with mixed acuity from ICU to PCU
• Care for CV surgery and thoracic surgery patients (CABG, TAVR, SAVR, MVR, VATS)
• Float to Med/Surg, Progressive, ICU cardiovascular, and oncology as needed
• Night shift 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:30
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within hospital or to affiliate hospital
• No on-call requirements
• Private rooms with overhead lifts and telemetry monitoring
• Provide direct care with cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Charting in Cerner system

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a CVICU RN for a mixed-acuity cardiovascular ICU requiring 18 months of recent cardiac experience and IN or compact RN licensure.

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license required in hand prior to start
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac ICU experience required
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with post cardiac surgery care (direct or indirect from OR), CABG, and TAVI/TAVR
• Arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care/management required
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips required
• Preferred experience with IABP, pre/post cardiac cath intervention, sheath removal, and ventricular assist devices (LVAD/RVAD/Impella)
• Preferred experience caring for ventilated patients and ventilator management
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Nursing degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE

Responsibilities

• CVICU setting with mixed acuity ranging from ICU to PCU level care
• Primary patient population includes CV surgery and thoracic surgery patients (CABG, TAVR, SAVR, MVR, VATS)
• Additional flex acuity populations include Med/Surg, Progressive, ICU cardiovascular, and oncology patients
• ICU ratio of 1:2 and AA ratio of 1:3-4 (rare)
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:30
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
• No on-call requirements
• All private rooms equipped with overhead lifts and telemetry monitoring
• Charting system is Cerner
• Provide direct care to complex cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Scrub color requirement: black bottoms and red top
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are not accepted for this unit
• Any former perm or PRN employee of the health system must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Current or past travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment within the health system must take a designated consecutive break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
