Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced ICU/PCU RN for a mixed-acuity cardiac unit in Colorado. The role requires 2+ years of ICU/PCU nursing and an active CO or compact RN license, with BLS and ACLS certs.

Candidates with Epic charting experience, teaching hospital exposure, and prior charge nurse roles are preferred. The unit uses 24 beds, ICU/PCU level care, and rotating 3x12 shifts including weekends.

• CVP & Swan-Ganz monitoring, sheath removal, TAVR preferred
• Continuous IV sedation, paralytics, vasoactive drips titration
• CVA/acute stroke management and hypothermia protocol experience preferred
• Dysrhythmias and multisystem dysfunction management required
• IV insulin protocol experience required

Responsibilities

• Mixed-acuity ICU/PCU care in a 24-bed cardiac unit.
• Care for unstable patients including post-transplant, heart failure requiring vasopressor support, AKIs? (use as generic) MI and post‑interventional patients.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios range 1:1–2:1 (ICU) and up to 3:1 (PCU).
• Uses Epic for charting; rotating 3x12 shifts with day/night.
• Weekend shifts required per unit needs.
• Floating to other units as needed; high-acuity cardiovascular care.

• Experience managing continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and titrating cardiac/vasoactive drips required
• CVA/acute stroke management and hypothermia protocol experience preferred
• Experience managing dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction required
• IV insulin protocol experience required

Responsibilities

• Mixed-acuity, medically-focused unit providing ICU and PCU level care in a 24-bed cardiac unit
• Patient population includes unstable pre-heart transplants, heart failure requiring vasopressor support, acute MIs, unstable post-interventional cardiology patients, post-arrest targeted temperature management, and patients requiring invasive hemodynamics
• Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:1 to 2:1 for ICU level patients and up to 3:1 for PCU level patients
• Uses Epic for charting
• Rotating 3x12 shifts (day and night), various days of the week
• Weekend shifts required per unit needs
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required based on unit, division, or facility needs
• Provide advanced cardiac nursing care to critically and acutely ill patients in a high-acuity cardiovascular unit
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Completion of facility-specific training modules required within the first week of assignment
• Max 10 RTO days allowed per 13-week contract, with blackout dates during select holiday and peak periods
• No blocked scheduling requests permitted
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates previously employed by the health system or its affiliates may not be eligible for consideration
• Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment must wait at least one year before rebooking
• Local candidates accepted
