Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced CVICU RN for our new cardiac surgery program. Requires direct primary recovery and advanced hemodynamic skills, with 4-bed unit support and 1:1 post-surgical care.

The role offers 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 PM), 36 hours per week, and weekend rotations every 4 weeks. Travel-oriented benefits include housing and licensure reimbursement, with preference for candidates outside a 50-mile radius.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (VA or compact)
• Certification in ACLS and NIH Stroke required
• 2 years RN experience including 1–2 years in fresh cardiac surgery patient care with direct recovery experience
• Advanced hemodynamic monitoring experience required

Responsibilities

• 4-bed CVICU unit supporting new cardiac surgery program
• Patient ratios of 1:1 for immediate post-surgical patients and 1:2 for POD 1–3
• Primary nursing care model with unit staffing support
• Uses Meditech Expanse for documentation
• Scheduled 36 hours per week with 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks
• Floating required at same patient ratio as the unit floated to
• 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Provide direct recovery care to fresh cardiac surgery patients in a new program
• Navy blue scrubs per unit dress code
• Must reside outside 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates
• First-time travelers may be considered if meeting experience requirements

Requirements

• Active RN license, VA state or compact license required
• ACLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Certification required for CVICU
• 2 years of RN experience required, including 1-2 years of fresh cardiac surgery patient care with direct primary recovery experience
• Advanced skills required: balloon pump, Impella training, and Hemosphere or Acumen monitoring experience
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
