Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to assist Project Managers in delivering work that aligns with plans and specifications. Responsibilities include reviewing shop drawings, coordinating with architects and subcontractors, and publishing weekly progress reports.

The role emphasizes scheduling, cost consciousness, and safety adherence on construction sites, with opportunities to contribute to bid development and field improvements.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Preferred: strong written and oral communication, ability to read and understand blueprints, and familiarity with scheduling tools.

Responsibilities

• Assists Project Managers to ensure installed work meets plans and specifications.
• Reviews shop drawings and submittals for compliance and constructability.
• Forecasts labor-saving and cost-saving methods to improve efficiency.
• Prepares and distributes weekly progress reports and coordinates with Owner/Architect meetings.
• Updates project schedules and tracks milestones to meet deadlines.
• Supports bidding and scope development for trade contractors.
• Coordinates with superintendent on shop drawings, material lists, and samples.
• Maintains logs of shop drawings, clarifications, and change requests.
• Ensures adherence to safety policies and reports unsafe activities.
